I've been at a state school for about a month now. My anxiety problems caused me to switch to all online classes after a failed attempt at face to face classes. Unfortunately, my school doesn't offer many undergrad online classes, so they made an exception for this semester only for me to live here while I take classes through the community college in the same state school system. However, I am still paying the state school tuition for my classes, so I'm paying about $6000 more than I should be. I'm taking out about $3000 in loans. Do you think I should stay in my dorm and pay more or is it a ripoff?

Kinda late to do anything right now.

Will they allow you to leave now and only have to pay part of the tuition and R&B? Can you still get the online classes for the lower cost? I don’t think they are ripping you off but if you can do the online classes from home and don’t plan to try classroom classes next semester at the school, cutting your losses would be smartest.

I don’t know the specifics, but my refund would be pro-rated. My advisor said if I left and continued the online classes, I’d get a refund for the extra tuition. I’d also get my loan money to use for another living situation (I’m not allowed to go home, so I’d have to find a place to rent). I know it’s getting late to figure this out, but I’m on the fence of what to do. I hate it here.

Is there a reason you are not allowed to go home?

At this point withdrawing will cost you money. Check your school’s refund policy. it may or may not be cheaper in the long run.

Yeah, my family just won’t let me stay there.
