Paying with credit card

Am I missing anything? My understanding is that I can pay the entire fall bill with a credit card. Using a 0.00% interest rate offer for a year on purchases and getting reward points for the amount. UMD charges no add'l fee for this. Is this everyones understanding? Thus, I'll leave the cash in an interest bearing account until I pay the credit card off in 7/2011.

Yes, you can pay with your credit card with no additional fees and get rewards, etc. I use my Southwest Airlines card to get round trip tickets for my son to travel home. My other sons school charges a fee to use a credit card which I think is 5%.

One caveat: you have to pay the full bill. You can’t use credit cards for the Terp Payment Plan. So your plan is accurate, but not so for someone who uses TPP.

@Centh:

Can you elaborate? I’m in the Terp Payment plan, and after subtracting the Terp Payment plan and financial aid, I have to pay around $3,000. So I (or my parents) can’t pay that with our credit cards?

No, you can use the credit card for that 3K. You can’t use it for monthly payments, that must be checking.
