so i'm in the market for a new phone, and i can't decide if getting a blackberry is worth it. to current students / parents of students -- is it that useful to have perpetual access to email/the internet on campus? or, does it end up being more of a distraction? also, as a female, i'm thinking it may be annoying to have to carry around a phone that doesn't fit in my pocket when i don't want to bring a purse out at night. have any run into this problem or does it end up not being that much of an issue?

don't do it. it's not useful. really, it's not. don't sell your soul to a blackberry before you have to.

furthermore, you'll never be on campus and be like "oh i just need the internet RIGHT NOW and i can't find a computer anywhere" ... you'll probably check blitz pretty often anywya, and it's way more convenient and easier on a computer - there are tons of public terminals all over campus ... so..

I think its nice having a smartphone. I don't use it for the internet all that often but it is nice to have. I don't know what girls use the internet for but I can keep updated with a game on espn.com or if I am somewhere where I'm really bored I can go on youtube or something.

I never have to check my e-mail on the computer, which is a plus. Also, the blitzmail application doesn't display messages in HTML or hyperlinks, but a phone will. And if you are waiting on an important message you don't have to keep refreshing your inbox because your phone will let you know as soon as you have one.

About the size, my phone (T-mobile Dash) is really thin so it fits better in my pocket than alot of regular phones. Just dont get something the size of a sidekick and it should fit fine in a pocket.

You also have a keyboard so you can text faster, etc, etc. I say get one.

I recall The D did an article on smartphones. All they did was present points from both sides, iirc, nothing definitive.

what about the instinct
