Peer Recommendation help

Is it advisable to use Dartmouth Peer Recommendation as supplementary recommendations to other colleges?

It’s ok to send it to duke, not sure about others

^ I’m curious, why would it be OK for Duke?

^ Cuz Duke’s supplement says “If there is a parent. sibling or friend who you think could help us [understand you as an individual], we’d be happy to receive a one-page letter from one of them”. Its on Question 25 (short answers and optional questions) part c.

This is kind of on a side note, but is it ethical to look over the peer evaluation a friend writes for you, if they are aware you are doing it that is.

also, is it ethical to give them suggestions on things you’d like them to mention, as long as they are obviously writing is themself?

I don’t see a huge problem with either. I would just make sure your friend knows before they write the rec that you plan to look at it. I mean you technically have that option on the Common App. About the suggestions, your friend may appreciate that this late in the game.

^ What do you mean by “you technically have that option on the Common App.”?

My friend was so nervous about messing it up that she showed it to me. :]
In the end, though, unless it’s abhorrent, I really doubt it will have all too much of an effect on an application.

If you do send it to other colleges make sure it’s worth their time.
