Peer schools you really respect...

School: Penn

I respect Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, Duke, Rice. (Maybe not perfect peers, but that’s the list)

school: Cambridge

respect: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Berkeley, Oxford and Caltech

deserves mention: Columbia, UPenn, Chicago, Northwestern, Michigan, Hopkins, Cornell and Duke

Attending: Stanford

For peer schools, I respect: Rice, Caltech, UofT, Princeton, Michigan, Harvard, and Yale.

go to Vandy

respect: ND, UVA, DUKE, GTOWN, WAKE

oh and USC… I like students who work hard and play hard… not many schools play that game.

Vandy!

Rice University Class of 2013!!! Go Owls!

In my case, the schools I respect are different from Rice’s peer schools… although there is overlap.

Peer Schools: Brown, Carnegie Mellon, Cal, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke (turned them down for Rice, and so did many other Owls), Emory, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Pomona, Vanderbilt, UChicago, UVA, and WashU. I don’t think Rice is too far behind HYPSM academically, although Rice definitely suffers from a lack of name recognition.

Respect: Air Force Academy, Carnegie Mellon, Case, Columbia, Cornell, Davidson, Duke, Emory, Oxford College of Emory University, Ohio State, Miami University (OH), Michigan, Navy Academy, Northwestern, Pomona, Stanford (even though I am still bitter at them for rejecting me), UCLA, UChicago, UCincinnati, UPenn, UVA, WashU, Wake Forest, West Point, and Yale.

For me, it came down to Rice, Duke, and Emory… very hard decision!

Personally, I believe that Rice and Emory are underrated on CC along with many of the fine LACs, like Pomona! However, I believe that some of the Ivies, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Notre Dame, and especially Vanderbilt are overrated on CC and in general.

It’s hard to say but what are Boston University’s Peers?

^^ I would say Boston College. =)

Respected peer of WashU & UPenn: UChicago, Northwestern, Princeton, Duke, & Dartmouth.

^^ I would say Boston College. =)

This. I would also add NYU, GWU, Emory, USC, Tulane, and internationally someone referred to being on the same level as McGill, at least in Canada it is. She could’ve been mistaken.

Retraction:

Just received an email from a person (surprised he wrote back) who is in a very high position in my mothers native country and he tells me that BU is in that second tier behind the Ivies and Berekely along with and I quote; “Michigan, U Texas, UNC, Minnesota”.

I am assuming that he is going by international rankings as most people outside of the States have a much higher view of BU than in the States, where we tend to judge schools mostly by their undergraduate program.

Anyways, does this sound about right?

My school: Middlebury

Respect a lot: Dartmouth, Williams, Amherst

I’m sorry but WashU is not a peer of Princeton.

Also, the previous posters who said that Michigan is a peer school of Penn and Duke need to have their heads examined.

Honestly what IS up with this forum and calling other people who have different opinions mentally ill?

Like WTH. Do you guys have nothing better to do?

“Also, the previous posters who said that Michigan is a peer school of Penn and Duke need to have their heads examined.”

Those college administrators who give Michigan equivalent PA scores to those schools at the USNWR must also need their heads examined too. I have the perfect solution in any case. I suggest they be banished to India…

“I’m sorry but WashU is not a peer of Princeton.”

Neither are; UPenn, UChicago, Northwestern, Princeton, Duke, & Dartmouth.

“Neither are; UPenn, UChicago, Northwestern, Princeton, Duke, & Dartmouth.”

Says a guy who went to his own state’s public university and claimed that his school was a peer to Ivies. Oh well, whatever… your point of view is too insignificant. You can keep barking and denying, but it wont change fact that WashU is a peer to UChicago, Northwestern, Duke, & Dartmouth.

My school: USC

Respect for: JHU, Rice, Tufts, UMich, UVA, William & Mary, NYU

“You can keep barking and denying, but it wont change fact that WashU is a peer to UChicago, Northwestern, Duke, & Dartmouth.”

Where did I state that it wasn’t? I stated that none of those schools mentioned are peers of Princeton. I was actually defending WUSTL as a peer of all of those schools mentioned, save Princeton.

My school: Bowdoin College

Got love/respect for: Middlebury, Dartmouth, Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore, Tufts, Duke, Notre Dame, Brown, Wesleyan
