PEIS major at UCB?

Political Economy of Industrial Societies. How competetive of a major is this? I was reading the description and it sounds like a much more rewarding major to me then Polisci. I have been told that what you major in does not matter when it comes to law school, which is my goal, so would I be better served trying to get into this major rather than Polisci (When it comes to increasing my chances of acceptance)?

I was talking to a PAIS student the other day and she said it was far from competitive.

Does anyone know about the Peace and Conflict Studies major?

from what i heard PEIS has a higher transfer rate than peace and conflict resolution

berk rep told me that usual acceptrance is about 3.7ish

“PEIS major at UCB?”

one consonant shy of being the hardest major to get into.

I applied for Peace And Conflict Studies…

with a GPA of 3.976, international student…

received a B+ in Poli 3 (international relations).

uber-worried now

3.976… yeah, i’d be worried, too.

The acceptance rate for internationals to berkeley is 13.5% and 4.0’s do get rejected even to unimpacted majors.

heres an example: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1060296018-post12.html

Pinker shy where did you see PEIS was the hardest major to get into? I heard it wasn’t that competitive…

ben, with very few exceptions, it’s against my policy to explain the joke.

from what i heard, from my IR professor, political economy involves a lot more math, but apparently is a lot more fun. (compared to poli sci) idk about the competitiveness at cal, but you should really explore it and not just take it because “its an easier major to get accepted into”

plus, why would you want to go to cal when morons like john yoo is there teaching poli sci . <– im jk okay. . .

oh yeah… that darn John Yoo… he really pushes my buttons.
