Pending?

My status switched today from Under Review to Pending, but no one else I know went through the Pending stage... the description beneath it says that it has gone on for further review. Is that a good thing? The list of all the steps at the bottom isn't much help, all it says is Pending (Waiting). I'm ready for a decision now!

Scratch that. I just checked it and it says "As a result of the tremendous competition for admission to the 2007 freshman class, we are unable to give you a final decision at this time. Your application will be considered again during Final Review, and a decision will be made by the end of March.

Before final review of your application, we felt we need additional information in order to make our decision. Please refer to the letter that we sent to you on 01/17/2007 for details about the additional information we requested."

Obviously I haven't received the letter yet...to me, this seems a lot like wait-listing, but people are saying it's not, they're just extending the deadline. What is this?

I think that means you got deferred. That's better than wait list, b/c it alerts you earlier. Waitlist tells you around mid June. If you don't mind, can you please share your high school record?

Pretty horrible grades, good SAT scores...
3.6 GPA W; 1300 on Old Scale, 2100 on New.

Good luck to you. Does that mean you got 800 on writing? And how long did your review take? Thanks.

Yes, I got an 800 on writing. It took about 8 weeks for my application to switch from Submitted to Under Review (I had nothing missing from my application), and then another week exactly for it to switch from Under Review to Pending.

Oh, I'm suprised you didn't get in. What are you planning to major in? Oh yeah, if you don't mind answering, how difficult was your HS schedule (like number of APs).

I'm planning on majoring in Education, not sure which field yet.
I took AP US History last year and AP European History, AP Psychology, AP Statistics, and AP English IV this year. My school doesn't offer many AP classes, which is why I've only taken five.

Are you applying from Out-of-State?

Nope, I live in Durham.

my friend got into college of education with stats lower than that... like 4.1 gpa and 1200 on old SAT score... i don't understant... mine hasn't switched yet

best of luck
(i was deferred for carolina)

Not to be rude, but PrideSurfer said his/her friend has lower stats than Caroline. Caroline said she had a 3.6, and PrideSurfer said 4.1, so how is that lower?

well like her AP scores (all 2s, sat right around 1200 - just under i think, and we have a small class of around 200 so its not really that impressive) especially when u compare that with 1300/2100 (800 writing); i mean scores aren't everything but Caroline's stats (with the exception of gpa) are excellent in comparison to my friend

still no status change for me yet... NC State Biology
