I guess there’s no more reason to post anything until 12/12/12.

Wait! Isn’t that the end of the Mayan calendar? How many of you would still check the results even as the world is ending? I probably would? Lol.

Wait! Isn’t that the end of the Mayan calendar? How many of you would still check the results even as the world is ending? I probably would? Lol.

^^ lol no the Long Count Calendar is set to end the 21st.

but yes, I would check, as I play “till the world ends” mind you

Gotta say, it’s a nice touch results will come out on 12/12/12.

^ Should’ve made it at high noon: 12/12/12/12

^that would’ve been too obvious, mmm? ;)

Im so nervous.

^ Regarding nervousness: Don’t get me wrong, I would love to go to Penn, but if (when :p) I get rejected I know I’ll end up at some other awesome school and have an awesome time there. Penn isn’t the only great school out there. Thinking like this helps me stay calm.

^Yes, that is solid reasoning. But he’s easier said than believed. I’ve been telling myself the same thing for the past couple months, but still, rejection is going to hurt no matter what. And let’s not forget - part of it has to do with ego, too.

^Yeah, I have to agree with you foxtails. I try to tell myself that it’ll be ok if I get rejected, but, even though that’s partly true, I’ll still be pretty disappointed. At worst, I hope I’m deferred. That’ll give me some much needed confidence going into RD at other schools. Hopefully, the college apps end on the 12th though. That’d be amazing and it would make my winter break awesome.

^^ I’ve also basically convinced myself that I will get rejected, so that helps me deal with the wait too :D.

How many people actually get admitted from deferred list??? Not many??

^ Last year, 99/888 (11%):

[Incoming Class Profile - Penn Admissions](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/apply/incoming-class-profile)

^The acceptance rate for deferred students is usually almost the exact same as the acceptance rate for RD students as a whole.

Thats more than I would have thought. Some top schools admit a lot less.

^But it depends on the year, too. Some years, little to no ED deferrees are admitted. (This is for Penn’s peer schools; not sure about Penn specifically.)

All of you on this page crack me up. I’ve been doing the same these past few weeks - brainwashing myself that if I don’t get in I’ll still go to an awesome school. Ugh like a part of me hopes that I’ll get in and I keep reviewing my app in my mind…highlighting all the strengths and then getting excited that there might actually be a chance that I get in…but then reality hits and I’m like lol Wharton. lol. lol acceptance rate.

:c

^Lol iSeraphic. It’s like you took the words out of my mouth. I don’t know how to feel about my app…I guess academically I’m fine, but all the intangibles worry me. Are my EC’s good enough?! Will they like my essays?! Am I tall enough!? Do I have enough swag?!

Actually, for the Class of 2016, Penn deferred fewer ED appliants than it had in the past, with the specific intent of accepting them during the RD round at a slightly higher acceptance rate than for RD applicants:

[The Daily Pennsylvanian :: Early decision admit rate drops slightly](Early decision admit rate drops slightly | The Daily Pennsylvanian)

That is, in fact, what happened, with 11% of deferred applicants being accepted during the RD round, compared to 9-10% of RD applicants (I know, not tremendously higher ).

what are the chances of getting into ED at penn if you aren’t top ten percent in your high school due to taking too many AP Classes (7 junior year alone), but extra-curricular activites are amazing, and essays are fairly strong??

^ I don’t think anyone here can tell you, but this past year 96% of Penn admits were in the top 10% of their class (I might be slightly off with my statistics).
