@pennhopefully: I was also contacted by the recruitment director. In my case, I was noted as a candidate of “significant interest” to the KWH. I’m not even a CAS applicant (:P) so I don’t know how much it will help.

I would think it’s a plus, but no guarantee.

Hey guys quick question. So there are two people, including myself, who have applied for ED. The other person is an athletic recruit, so basically she’s going to get in. Am I competing with her for an ED admission, or is she thrown into the athlete category, while I’m a regular ED student with no ED competition from my school?

^I’m also curious about this. A girl from my school got recruited to Penn for swimming already, so does this negatively affect my chances any more than if she were a random ED applicant elsewhere?

^Of course it will affect you. Even though they might say they won’t compare you, you can be sure they will. It will give them the best context of your academic achievement compared to others given the same opportunities.

Are the applications reviewed by different admissions officers for different schools (CAS, SEAS, etc) or are they reviewed by the same admissions officers?

^^^Phoenix, if I recall from your posting history you’re the child of faculty and have a 2400 w/ pretty good EC’s. I don’t want to be presumptuous, but you’ll probably get in.

I probably wouldn’t worry about the number of your classmates applying to Penn ED. Last year around 18 kids from my school (in a class of under 200) applied and now 11 of them currently attend. Also, around 20 students from my school, including myself, already applied this year (about 11% of my entire grade).

im kind of in the same situation. There is a kid applying to a dual degree from my school and he has a perfect GPA + near perfect SATs. There is also a strong legacy applicant to Wharton from a nearby school. Hopefully they are considered in a separate category since I applied to CAS.

^^same… There is also a kid applying to jerome fisher with perfect GPA and near perfect SATs and is a child of faculty. Heck half of the kids applying to Penn have a parent working there
