Penn 2017 ED Discussion Thread

Lol, my friend who got accepted ED Wharton last year got straight ** first semester, dropped AP Physics C for 2nd semester, and proceeded to get straight ** and one C second semester. He’s going to UPenn right now and I don’t think he even got a letter notifying him. You’re fine.

I got deferred ED for Biological Basis of Behaviour.

-SAT: 2000
-GPA: 3.7

Oh wow… Saying “straight B’s” without the apostrophe got censored… -_-

Accepted! Any other DMD’ers?

@hurricansandy I am! :)

Do you guys mean 7 Year Bio-Dent or that you want a DMD in general?

^ Neither. They mean [Digital Media Design](<a href=“CG@Penn | DMD Program”>CG@Penn | DMD Program). :)

Yay! Fellow DMD’er! WHOO!

Accepted to Wharton. WOO PHILI!

anybody who got accepted ED wanna tell us what they wrote about for the “mover, immovable, movable” prompt?

I chose immovable for my prompt.
However, I won’t say what I specifically wrote for it until after the RD deadline. The people who are currently applying should think of their own ideas for the prompt, just as the rest of us did.

fair enough. i recently talked to a friend who almost convinced me that mover was the only “right” answer…nice to know somebody got in writing about something else. do you think it would be bad if i challenged the premise of the question and argue that you can’t have one without the other two?

Go for it!
I went to the info session earlier in October and the woman said that you can do whatever you want with the quote. The more creative, the better.

Kid wrote that he was all three depending on circumstances- immovable for some football plays, movable for others and one that moves for student government…and he is not playing football at Penn so it was risky but made sense…

I did all three  But you really don’t have to, just do the ones that you feel describe you!

when is the enrollment deposit due?

I am glad you all got in. DMDs and all. Amy Calhoun will love you all. Be aware. West Philly is D-a-n-g-e-r-o-u-s! The low lifes walk all around the campus and are the same people they hire for security (and their lousy food service)!! The walk to the Eng buildings at night is dark especially back to the Quad and highrises. Always WALK WITH SOMEONE!! A-L-W-A-Y-S. They really need to up security or even better…build fences.

^Sorry to hear about the security situation. I used to do work at the hospital and was amazed at how wide open to anyone huge parts of the campus are. This is especially true after seeing “Fort” Yale U with a hundred locked gates and high walls keeping out the public, even the police, and betting that the majority of the faculty support open borders.

My S goes to school in Philly - carries mace because the retractable baton was too heavy. My advice is to have some basic protection, self defense training and street smarts.

It’s mostly safe but you really got to be smart about it. I really like the baton too. With a little training, you can gain advantage over multiple attackers, most knife wielders, even a gun wielder in the right circumstances with enough training. But I say give up the money, fighting is a final resort to save limb and life. Mace is easy to conceal, but should be in your hand and ready when walking at night. It’s meant to temporarily disable and run, get help. Don’t hang around to watch your handiwork with mace and mace is not legal in Philly even though you can get a PA gun permit and concealed carry in Philly. Strange laws.

^ IGNORE PSTRETT–he/she is a ■■■■■ with a one-track agenda. Just look at all 9 or his/her posts in his/her short time on CC, and you’ll see the alleged dangers of Penn’s campus mentioned in each and every one of them (regardless of the topic of the thread).

His/her purported observations are NONSENSE.

everyone who applied at my school got rejected
but none of them were in the top 5% of my class
