Penn and AP Credit

Hey I’m a senior looking to register for some AP exams. I am currently enrolled in AP Spanish, English Lit, European History, and Biology. I also have recieved a score of a 690 on the Spanish SAT II exam. I am not really understanding Penn’s treatment of AP scores… what exactly do you get with a 5? Which exam(s) do you think would be the most worthwhile for me to take?

with a 5...you get credit and placement out of the language requirement...i believe

But it also says you get placement out of the language requirement with a 650+ on SAT II's... should I still take the Spanish AP exam for that 1 credit unit?

Call the department but most kids take the SATII and then don't take a language or take a new language. I did both actually.

Thanks I've been reading over that site for a while now.. So I'm basically already exempt from Spanish and never need to take a language again? Do they offer more advanced Spanish classes like Conversational Spanish or Spanish lit or something? Hazmat, what is your opinion.. is it even worth it for me to spend $82 on the Spanish AP exam when I already have a 690 on the SATII?

I wouldn't do it,spend the bux or the time. NO you don't have to take any language and yes there are upper level classes if you choose to take them. I'd say you might want to look into other courses because unless you choose intro language in the evening the courses are clustered around lunch and then you are much more limited in taking other first year options.

They don't really take AP credits anymore to satisfy their general credits...

exactly but if you can get into a high level course through placement you will benefit.

Are placement tests offered for all subjects.. chemistry, biology?
