Penn Class of 2012

^ I highly doubt it. I was in the same situation when I applied, and I never even thought about taking the TOEFL.

I think you don't need to take TOEFL: you reside in the USA. If you have attended US schools for several years, I think that it is totally not necessary.

:) you guys r lucky!!! congratz on everyone who got it!!! whoa, how'd u guys make it!!!

i applied RD, i cannot wait for april.

me neither!! i also applied RD! wat approximate date will we be receiving our notification?

Early April; around April 6 I heard (at least in Florida).

it's online on like march 31 i thought. they sent info in the mail....

congratuations to all that got into Huntsman! would you mind posting your stats and ECs to see if my D even has a fighting chance. i know u can select the college as your 2nd choice but not sure if that dilutes your ED acceptance chance to the college.

thanks!

In response to questions about the Hunstman Program:

Syna, I do not think you can target in Polish, unless you are of an intermediate level in the following languages, you cannot be in the program:

Arabic
Chinese (Mandarin)
French
German
Hindi
Italian
Japanese
Korean
Portuguese
Russian
Spanish

Love Mom, I really do not know why I was accepted to the program. My college counselor told me that I had no chance. I assume that you are American... I am an international so admission criteria is probably different. Here is my information:

Nationality: Columbian/French
School: Boarding School in Wales Junior and Senior Year, very highly regarded
(we do not have GPA or class rank, we do not do the AP system, and our grading scale is 1-7 for the IB)
Freshman and Sophomre year: the American School in Paris
As a Sophomore, I took 4 APs, Spanish, Biology, English, Statistics. I got two 4s and two 5s.
Grades: In the American school, I had As and Bs, in my current school I have 6s in every class.
SATI: reading: 650, writing: 750, math 700
SATII: spanish: 800, lit 650, math II 650.
ECs: Leader of Model UN, Lifeguarding on the Coast, Special Olympics, Recycling, Debate, Math Tutoring, Skiing, Badmitton, Theatre, Library Asst, Physics Lab Asst, Chorus, Jazz Band, there are many others..my school is based on service and activites.

I applied early and I listed the coolege as my second choice. I do not think this hurts your admission to either the program or the other school. With respect to the Huntsman Program, I am a native Spanish and French speaker--I will choose Spanish as my target language. I have been educated in American private schools all of my life, so I am also fluent in English. My math scores seem low, but I am taking the IB's HL Math with Further Mathematics, a very high level, so that makes up for it I guess. Also I don't need financial aid, which helps as an international..

Essays: Penn Essay- I wrote about things specidic to Penn. Hunstman Essay- I wrote about the Zapatistas. Opportunity essay- I wrote about my boarding school. What I do for fun essay- I wrote about unicycling. Proffeor I want to study with- I wrote about a prof of modern Indian medicine.

Is this useful?

I've never been to Penn so I don't know the answers to any questions, all I can list are my stats. -Roberto

Thank you Roberto, I haven't been on this thread in a long time. You are a great candidate for Huntsman with your international exposure and being
fluent in 3 languages. All the best at Huntsman!
