Still haven’t gotten contacted by interviewer yet? And I’m right outside of philly…
What are you applying to specifically? If you aren’t applying to a dual degree program your interview could be later.
@stehyh Thanks! Still, do you have any idea that in all, how many Chinese students are there in a batch at Penn each year? Probably a senior at Penn could tell you?
@ShaunakK98 Not very sure and I don’t know any students at Penn my guess is less than 20 students per year (excluding those in China that hold US citizenship) UPenn is a popular school for ED here btw
@VaishS - age of the interviewer doesn’t really matter. As @ComputerAge says, you can definitely connect easier to someone young but maybe if its an older interviewer, their value might be more since they judge many more in the past years.
Bottom-line: as long as the interviewer is interested and stays connected to what you are speaking, that is a good sign. If the talk (Q &A) becomes more of a conversation, its a great.
@ShaunakK98 - There are some highly rated schools in China and Penn definitely wants to take some students (to show that they have students around the world).
Sometimes I wonder what these College counselors do? How do they really help? Its like hiring a real estate agent to find a home?
@stehyh @shivaya i’m asking because India has around 25-30 per year, I was wondering if China sends more, less, or equal. Also, China has a massive reputation for students in STEM fields, i was wondering if they are equally brilliant in business
@ShaunakK98 Most of them apply to SEAS or CAS, but there are students who go for Wharton & are solid in STEM as well. I think the number of students accepted is 25-30 instead
oh ok! thanks for the information
@fcm951 I’m with you bud… Central NJ within an hour of Penn, I thought I would definitely be getting an interview but nothing yet. All I can think is that the person I was assigned is super busy, forgot, or doesn’t do interviews anymore…
@jarrett211 @c777123 Hey guys, for everybody in the same boat as me (no interview), I spoke to admissions on Friday and she said interviews would be assigned up until the end of this week (Nov 21st). Pretty much, if we don’t get an interview by Saturday, we’re probably not going to get one. She assured me it’s not a huge deal and that not having one is no indication of the strength of your application. Still, I’m really hoping I get an interview.
Consider us lucky. Princeton’s EA applications increased by nearly 10%
exactly. i think a mere 140 applicant increase was less than what penn expected this year.
im pretty sure the ED acceptance rate will be the same, if not more
Although Princeton still receives more than 1000 less applications early than Penn
they have smaller classes
Yeah I figured
And lets rejoice in that fact
Hahah indeed!
4.5 hours until my interview
@ComputerAge Thanks for the info. And yeah, I understand they’re not important, but I’ll take anything I can to increase my chances!
I hope everyone gets an interview soon. It sucks that you guys have to worry about it in addition to everything else
