Hey ya’ll! I applied ED to the DMD program, but my backup was CAS Communication.
Im really worried because this year was a record number of applicants, and I decided NOT to submit a portfolio with my DMD application.
Does anyone know how significantly that will impact me? Or just any knowledge on how competitive getting into DMD is in general, and what the DMD major is like? There haven’t been any new threads since 2009, yikes!
If I get dropped but accepted, I’m planning on the DMD minor, or transferring sophomore year from CAS, but does anyone have any idea how hard either of those would be? Thanks!
p.s. lowkey more worried about passing Penn Hype auditions than getting into Penn for real…whoops.
I did include a link to my personal blog/graphic shop/comic strip but at the time I just felt kind of crappy and had 0 faith in my abilities…
I do have a lot of CS stuff like winning a supercomputing challenge 1st place, a couple of awards from a major lab in my area, and then a national comic competition that I won (in terms of art) and a bunch of journalism stuff, so I was hoping maybe all that non art focus might make up for it bc the DMD is engineering and CS…
I believe most people do submit their art portfolio when applying to DMD, but that’s my own anecdotal evidence from a few DMD friends.
If you won a national competition in comic art, then you must be amazing! could you post a link by any chance? (I’m also a DMD applicant, but i think what I’m lacking most is computer science experience haha, so im pretty worried about that. I hope we both get in
