So what is the economics program like at Penn? And can you double major in something outside of Wharton like math if you are taking economics at Wharton? Does a economics degree from Penn give you good exit opportunities in things like IB and HF?

There are several misconceptions in your post. First, Wharton doesn’t offer a major in Economics. The Economics major is based in CAS. Wharton offers a B.S. in Economics. However, that is just Wharton’s way of naming their business degree. Some other colleges might call Wharton’s program a BBA. In regards to your question about job opportunities in the finance industry, Wharton and all of Penn have excellent recruiting in the field. Aside from two or three other top colleges such as Harvard and maybe Princeton, Penn offers the best finance job opportunities. Both the CAS Economics major and the Wharton degree are fine. What matters more for finance is your job experience (internships), extracurricular and leadership activities and your finance knowledge.
