<p>I waited to do this until i had ALL of the final stats that I was going to apply to college with, so here it is. I am going to be applying to colleges this fall, and I want to apply to Penn (Arts and Sciences) Early Decision. What do you think of my chances?</p>
<p>Public High School (sends like 20-30 to ivys or ivy-level schools each year)
about 280 kids in my grade
GPA- 3.82 unweighted (out of 4.00) (my school does not weight or rank)
SAT- 2300 superscored (800 CR, 720 Math, 780 Writing)
SATIIs- US History- 790
Bio M- 720
I have taken the most rigorous courseload at my school. My schedule for senior year is: AP Physics B, AP Calc AB, AP French, AP Gov, AP Macroeconomics, AP Masterpieces (english). </p>
<p>EC's/Awards: (they are condensed, but READ them)
-Independent Social Science Research: I have won Merit and 1st Place in 2 local competitions, and I am submitting my project to Intel this fall as well as other competitions in the spring.
-Research Internship at Columbia University (during summer of 2007)- there was an extensive intervew and application process- selective
-Internship with Local Government- won leadership award
-Vice President of Model Congress Club- member for all 4 years of high school and have been VP for Jr. and Sr. years- I also have won 4 1st place awards and 2 honorable mentions at competitions
-Editor for School Newspaper- Soph, Jr. and Sr. year
-have about 170 community service hours
-went to upstate NY with Habitat for Humanity and built homes
-went to New Orleans and helped clean up/build houses 5 months after Katrina
-qualified for State Tournament Fr. and Jr. year for Student Congress (part of Forensics club)
-won Local History Competition and monetary award</p>
<p>Recommendations:
Teacher- 1: Jr. year AP US history teacher- pretty good
2: Fr., Jr., and Sr. year French teacher- great
Guidence Counselor- called me his "favorite student," so i expect it to be incredible</p>
<p>Essays- working on them now- they are looking pretty good. </p>
