COUNTING.

Its been almost a month since the ED deadline and they STILL haven't announced the number of ED apps. Grrr.

I hope they put "can count" on the list of requirements for new admissions dean...

COUNTING.

Its been almost a month since the ED deadline and they STILL haven't announced the number of ED apps. Grrr.

I hope they put "can count" on the list of requirements for new admissions dean...

whoa you're intense!

lol i have some numbers for you 20-30% will get in :p

chill out bagles, go have some cream cheese and smoked salmon

It'll be an interesting year for ED numbers. Combine a new admissions dean with the first year of no early at Harvard and Princeton, and this delay tells me that this year's numbers will be interesting.

yeah im interested in seeing how the new admissions dean will run things this year.

he is only interim so we will have at least 1 more year of craziness when the new guy (or girl, yay diversity) comes in.

Another wild card: the heightened perception of Philly and university city as "unsafe." I myself think that is nonsense, but I can imagine hundreds of overprotective mothers and wussy children opting out of Penn this year.

Penn really shud start a Application Status Check System!!!
^^Has Penn always been unsafe or is it a lil more this year??neways...with ED u have no option to opt out(not that I want to...):S

Actual crime statistics haven't changed (putting us in the middle of the Ivies), but the number of embarrassing high-profile incidents is definitely up. Maureen Rush should be fired. Right now.

which of the ivies has the highest crime rates? it really isnt a prob till these incidents do not occur inside the university....or atleast we hope they dont

People love to imagine all sorts of "causes" for things that we don't even know have happened. Due to (1) the new admissions dean, (2) the end of ED at other schools or (3) Philly's alleged massive crime wave, ED applications at Penn have (A) skyrocketed (B) plummeted.

How much do you want to bet that ED applications are about the same as last year, +/- a few percent?

If I remember correctly, they release the # of ED applications at the same time they announce the ED results, and not before.

Yep, the numbers will only be different by a few percent, but it'll still be interesting to see what effect if any those factors you named had on them. The one that will have the biggest effect probably is the end of ED at other schools.

And the number of ED applications is definitely released before ED results.

Penn is probably a really good place to get field research for criminal justice

hahaha number one criminal justice school in the country

5789 early applicants this year. and we are supposed to hear back on dec. 12

How do you know?

yeah seriously...where did you get this info?

if that's true...dec 12th! sweet!

last year there was 4,001.... beat

december 12? please share how you know this.

and this years total is close to 6000? where did you get this and how does this compare to last year? what was last years total?
