i guess that’s bye bye stanford for you then.

start conditioning your mind to love penn from now on. it’s not a bad school. our top 1 guy in my HS class went there over stanford. he’s now a happy family man with 2 children and multi-million dollars hidden on his bank accounts. lol

That’s real nice of you to pull out my SAT score and assume that’s why I’m standing up for a guy/girl who is already frustrated and doesn’t need more jabbing from other people. Nice job.

Either way, the OP isn’t necessarily screwed. It’s not good, but it’s not a definite rejection. No one can tell him/her that, even you, Handala92, because you’re not a Stanford admissions officer.

“The fact is, the applicant is going to get rejected…”

How do you know this for a FACT my friend? Are you God? And yes, I stand by what i said before when i called you a jerk because frankly, you are really acting like one.

OP, this happens to soooo many people at top schools. really. adcoms understand that people are applying to more than one school; like, really. just hang tight and don’t assume anything about your decision – do not not NOT beat yourself up over it.

@Stanfordkid: Wanna bet? There may not be complete metaphysical certainty, but I think that we can reasonably state that this applicant will be rejected.

^ I think we can reasonably state that the odds are against every single applicant. There’s no point in speculating seeing as none of us has the slightest clue what will happen to the OP.

As someone said above, there’s no point in raising or reducing anyone’s hopes.

Woah! Guys, RELAX! :S I just meant to share the blunder so that some of you might have a good laugh over it instead of worrying about your ‘canceled’, not ‘cancelled’ and stuff like that
Seriously, I absolutely LOVE Stanford, and it would be GREAT if I got in. But, in real life, **** HAPPENS. There’s not much choice but to have a good laugh and move over it Its not as if one rejection would mean the end of my career. If there was STILL something I could do about my error, THEN I would be worried like hell and doing whatever I could possibly do to change it.
Besides, people HAVE got in without stuff like this Eg. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1064030939-post8.html
In any case for an international needing aid from India, chances are already ultra low. So for those trying to prove a point with my rejection, it might have come anyway. If it still satisfies the ego of either side or amuses the applicants in general, I will certainly post my decision here when it comes. Also, the rest of the essay is very much tailored to Stanford and uses ‘Stanford’, NOT Penn. And even if would write ‘Penn’ there, it would have been OBVIOUS that I meant Stanford
Goodluck to all those who have applied, hope you enjoyed my mistake :D

It’s not going to make or break your app anyway, gargar, even if you’re not looking for consolation. :P. If the rest of it is fantastic enough (which it will be!!) then you have as good or bad a shot, pennmanship or not (see what I did there?)
