As a parent of the Class of 2016, I thought it would be nice to have some input from other parents as they get their babyQUAKES settled. My d moved in yesterday to her dorm @Penn. It went smoothly. Kudos to Penn. They provide you with a permit to unload for 1 hour in front of the dorm. These huge containers on wheels are lent to you for 1 hour to get the mountain of stuff to the dorm. Perfect. Once you are done, you move your car to a parking garage with free parking provided you enter once and leave it there. It was the most enjoyable dorm relocation program that I have ever encountered. We had time for a nice lunch, trip to the bank and of course, the Penn Store. If your forget to buy certain items for the room, not to worry.... The Penn Store has a huge section of dorm stuff.. because you know you will forget something. Off to a good start!

You mean you did not get stuck waiting for the elevator at one of the quad dorms? Once we were in line waiting for over 1/2 hour to get on the elevator with the big cart (big traffic jam) and we were late by about 5 minutes returning the cart. They said we would be charged $100 when we returned it but somehow we never got the bill, thank god!

Good to point out that there is a $100 charge if the carts are not returned. That is all we needed to hear and we kicked into high gear. In full disclosure, D was part of an orientation program so we didn’t have the elevator issue. I can imagine that Thursday will be a challenge when many will move into the dorms.

@ ttparent, the 100 dollars is added to your bill when you make tuition payments etc. It’s probably better to just tell them it was a result of waiting in line to return the cart and that you were in fact on time to get it waived.
