***PENN REGULAR DECISION DISCUSSION CLASS OF 2019***

I always thought the tradition of Ivy day was silly and it would be nice if they broke it this year.

They won’t break it…

Well, that won’t happen.

@abriboi princeton has theirs listed as 3/31 on their website http://admission.princeton.edu/applyingforadmission/application-dates-deadlines

The May 1 decision date should be extended then too. It is unreasonable for these colleges to give less than a 2 week notice for students to make flight arrangements for admitted student days.

I applied to CAS and I got a LL in the second wave!! I am beyond ecstatic because penn is one of my favorites!!

@vomitcom, was there any notation on the applicant portal?

@AuntieFascist‌ I got an email, notification on the portal, and they just sent me a Penn Diary in the mail

@vomitcom, cool!! Congratulations! I’ve been to Philadelphia a lot on business and to visit relatives and I like it a lot. And, Penn is tough to beat.

@AuntieFascist‌ Thank!!!

has anyone in the new york area received likely letters?

@tshillz‌ I think they’re done sending them out. I know of a few people in NY schools who received some earlier this week. I’m honestly not expecting too much, but I did receive a letter from Columbia yesterday, which felt pretty nice :stuckouttongue:

^congrats!!

I received a likely letter in NY a few days ago through email and today in the mail @tshillz‌

@xxnataliexx‌ @abriboi‌ What are your EC’s and stuff? What do you think made you guys get likely letters?

@ilovethecity‌ I honestly have no idea why I got one. I have average EC’s (member of school clubs, volunteered at a hospital, nothing spectacular). 35 ACT, 2170 SAT, around 4.02 WGPA. My only hook is I’m URM

I’d also consider your near perfect ACT pretty spectacular…

I had the usual 2280SAT/3.8GPA and awards at the state science fair, Intel ISEF, and Model UN. I honestly think what probably put me through was a compelling “Why?” essay, though.

Of course, take what I’m saying with a grain of salt, because I’ve only had a sample size of one school so far (and one that I think has a different vibe/ideology than that of Penn’s).

If a student does not get a LL does it mean that he/she did not get into the IVs?? Is March 31st date is a namesake official date only?

No
