***PENN REGULAR DECISION DISCUSSION CLASS OF 2019***

SEAS International applicant here!

I applied dec 25. Still didn’t get e-mail with login and PIN. Did everyone got access to their admissions website?

@leno4ka, I applied after you and received mine. Check your spam/trash and/or call admissions (in my opinion)

Does anyone know what they ask at the interviews for Penn and how we should prepare for them? Mine is coming up and I’m beyond nervous :-SS

SEAS deferral here. Time for round 2

The coordinators in my area just started giving out interview assignments.

It takes af few days to process an applcation and then be placed into the assignment data base so applciantions are still beig processed.

I am an in interviewer. It would be an unfair advantage for you to get the questions. While I cannot speak for any other interviewer, my questions are not difficult. The interviewers were in your place at one time - we are human.

Crap. I mentioned being interested in combining management and biology in my Why Penn essay, but didn’t apply n for the dual degree in management and nursing. Will that hurt me?

Wharton deferral. Sup people.

Hi everyone! I am a Penn football recruit and was just offered to attend. I committed and will be a part of the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Any questions regarding the campus I can answer to the best of my knowledge as I just got back from a 3 day official visit there.

Congratulations HurrincanesFan73. Hopefully you can be part of turning around the Penn Football program. My son is a committed baseball recruit and is looking forward to getting there in the fall.

Don’t be nervous, Humbleapplicant. The interviewer just wants to chat with you! I’m an interviewer as well. I conduct my interviews as conversations. I do have a list of questions but I generally only have to resort to them when the conversation stalls (other than initially getting things going). Generally, we cover what we need to cover just in chatting. There are not set interview questions; every interviewer has their own way and their own style. The interviewer wants to get a sense of what you’re like, what your passions are, and what you’d be like at Penn. I always include a link to the interview page on the Penn website. There’s lots of good information there, and you can get an idea of what sort of questions expect: http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/apply/freshman-admission/interviews

I have already been assigned a number of interviews, but it’s not at all uncommon to get assignments very close to the deadline so if anyone has NOT heard yet, don’t assume you won’t hear. I would HIGHLY recommend that applicants check the spam filters on the email used for the application. Check Vmail even if you NEVER use it because there might be a message from your interviewer. I’ve had my emails filtered to spam and I’ve left a Vmail when it’s a last resort to try to get a student to get back to me. I try at least three times to contact a student (and that’s SOP) but I can’t promise every other interviewer does that. It’s fine to decline an interview, but I don’t think anyone would want the reason to be “no response”…

Is it normal to have a phone interview? I feel as if it might cause issues with intelligibility, but I guess I’ll bite.

Skype interviews are more common than phone interviews, but phone interviews do happen. Good luck!

I just had my interview today and it went very well! Thank you everyone for the suggestions and help. If anyone who hasn’t had an interview yet has any questions I would be happy to answer them

@humbleapplicant Any questions that you weren’t expecting?

@tccbay Who would you invite to a dinner party, living or dead, and why? The rest were pretty standard.

Thank You! I will definitely try! Congratulations to your son as well.

@humbleapplicant “Who would you invite to a dinner party, living or dead, and why? The rest were pretty standard.”

That is an awesome question! What answer did you come up with?

Wharton applicant here. I had my interview today, and I think it went fairly well. My interviewer was very nice and friendly, which helped calm some nerves. It was my first college interview, and the positive experience has definitely made me less-nervous for my other ones coming up soon. GL to everyone.
