<p>I've heard that Altoona is the best choice of campus after University Park. Does anyone know if this is a suitcase school which is deserted on weekends? Any other comments on Penn State Altoona would be appreciated.</p>
<p>I think that it is sufficiently close to UP that Altoona students attend football games at UP. I know that they have some nice new dorms.</p>
<p>I'm really not sure of how many people go home, but a lot of locals commute. It's not the most exciting place on the weekends. I would suggest trying to talk to someone at the campus. </p>
<p>Altoona is very low key compared to UP. Even the campus is pretty "out there." Not necessary in the middle of no where, but if you are hoping to be able to walk to bars, or even restaurants, you have very limited options. </p>
<p>I would really suggest visiting before seriously considering it. Get to know the town a bit. Very different from State College, but it is only about 45 mins away.</p>
