<p>Does anyome know how difficult it is to get into the Blue Band? Also anything about the band? My son is a junior considering Penn State. Thank you.</p>
<p>It's supposedly pretty selective. I know three who tried out and one of them got in.</p>
<p>I think the selectivity varies by instrument...the odds are much better for a low brass player than for a piccolo player, for example. It also helps to be in good physical condition when you arrive for auditions!

<p>especially bands that are in the Big 10 are very gruesome in their physical shape of marching. it would help if he did the same marching style with high marches and if he practiced by himself. also to most marching bands, brass is easier to get in cause colleges look for mainly sousaphones, trombones, mellophones, and those really low brass instruments.</p>
