I applied to Penn State Altoona for early action on Aug 1st. I’ve read forums in the past that said the branch campus decisions are typically sent out earlier than at UP. With that being said, how long does it normally take for them to get back to you with a decision?
If you apply to, and are accepted for, Early Action, (so all your materials are complete by Nov 30 AND your program is included in earl action) you will have a decision by Dec. 24. I would still think that only the very tippy top applicants will hear sooner, and maybe not them in a year with new deadlines.
I attended an open house at PSU Altoona this summer. If you applied directly to the Altoona branch, you will most likely hear sooner. According to the head of admissions during the open house, they might start releasing decisions in September or early October.
@InfiniteWaves… Yeah I applied directly to Altoona. I’ve read other posts from people that also have said that the branch campuses normally are faster on decisions. That’s good to hear, thanks for the reply.
When my son applied to Altoona a couple of years ago, he applied Sept 1 and heard mid October and his was one of the first decisions released. With the new “early action” decisions, you should hear earlier than UP…likely in October at the latest since they have another whole month to review than they did previously. If you call admissions at Altoona, they are very helpful and will likely tell you a timeframe. They did so with us 2 years ago and they were right on.
