I still can't decided which to go to. My first choice was BU and I had my heart set on going there for three years now but I got my rejection notice this weekend so it's between Penn state, IU-Bloomington, or DePaul University can anyone give any advice or share their opinion? I'm still a tad crushed on not getting to BU and not being able to move any further with my dream of attending but I need to move on and pick where I am going to college now that BU is out of the picture. Please help!!!

For what major? DePaul seems the closest to BU in the type of school and urban setting.

What major and were are you in-state? I love IU and would choose it over Penn State unless for engineering . If you are in-state for PSU, that would be the smarter choice, though. I, personally, would pick either IU or PSU over DePaul, but that’s just my preference.

Crazy…

We need more info…

Major?
Career Goal?
What state are you from?
How much will your parents pay? (if they’ll easily pay full freight, then great, but if you need aid, then the OOS publics won’t work, and DePaul may not be affordable).

Oh sorry! I’m from Wisconsin, and I’m majoring in journalism and archeology or anthropology. I am not sure about my career goals. But I will need financial aid no matter which school I attend. I received 7k for each year at DePaul the others you have to apply or something along those lines. Thanks guys for all your help!

* But I will need financial aid no matter which school I attend. *

Don’t expect much/anything from Indiana or Penn St. Those are OOS publics, so they’re not going to give you much.

$7k for DePaul isn’t much. Do you know what kind of aid pkg you’re getting?

What is your EFC? How much will your parents pay?

Did you apply to any affordable schools? any instate?

*I still can’t decided which to go to. *

You may not have a choice. If you need FA, you may not have any/many affordable options.

I got 7k from Penn state too. My EFC is 3800 and I’m not sure I know that my room and board is covered where ever I go but I’m not sure how much my mother will be helping. No, I did not apply to any in-state school. These are pretty much my options.

Your EFC is 3800?

What did the grant from PSU say…is it Pell and SEOG? It sounds like you just got fed aid.

Wow…you were poorly advised if you didn’t apply to any instate options. None of your schools are affordable.

Your mom is lowish income, talk to her, but i doubt she can pay much.

I’m scratching my head wondering how you thought your schools would be paid for. None of those schools meet need or give generous aid.

What state are you in?

agreed with mom2collegekids, at this point it seems like Penn State would be your best option. I’m not sure how you would even have paid for BU if you got in

I don’t see how even Penn St is possible. The COA is over $40k per year, and the student seems to have mostly/only gotten Pell and maybe SEOG grants of $7k. Where’s he supposed to get the other $30k+ per year when his EFC is less than $4000???

At this point, the student needs to quickly determine if any instate publics are still accepting apps. And send FAFSA as well.

If the student doesn’t do this, then he’s going to end up with a local CC as his only choice, unless he takes a gap year and reapplies (without taking ANY college courses during the meantime.)

Crazy…what was your GPA, ACT and SAT??

i wanna ask which campus of PSU are you in? park or something?
sorry for the reply is not helpful to your post
