The easy answer to that is the EA deadline: Dec. 24th. However, there are a few nuances - this year, all Penn State staff are being given an extended holiday break effective Dec. 15th, so I would expect the vast majority of decisions to be made prior to that.
The bad news is that when they rolled out EA a few years ago, they were totally unprepared for the volume. I believe that was also the year they started the SRAR, so multiple process changes in one year. If I remember correctly, all nursing students were deferred to hear by Jan. 31st and they may have even missed that date by a few days. Nursing is incredibly competitive and a smaller cohort, so that may add complexity to their decisions.
Sorry to possibly be the bearer of bad news that it won’t early. But better to be prepared than anxiously checking for an earlier decision date.
My daughter never received an email, just checked her portal one day and thea ceptance was there. She did receive a package the next day (so not sure when her acceptance was actually added to the portal).
Does anyone know if decisions only come out at 12:00, or should I look throughout the day? Also is the only indication that a decision is forthcoming is when the TO button goes away? Is that still relevant to this year? Thank you!
My daughter found out this Saturday. Did not go test optional, but her SAT was 1310 so not one of the highest. Applied Undeclared to university studies. Out of State student. She is one of the earliest of her friends to hear. Her only other friend who heard has extremely high stats.
My son is in-state, with a 35 ACT score, SATs of 1550, and a GPA of 3.97/4.67 (weighted and unweighted). He applied to Penn State on 10/28 and has not yet received a decision. He goes to a small school, and so far, no one there who applied as a Science major has received a decision. So, we think that the choice of major may affect the timing.
Just trying to help everyone on this board breathe.
