okay, so im really nervous about penn state. its a huge school and i am usually better with smaller groups than bigger ones. i dont have a single friend going there, because they are all going to temple. i dont want to regret not going to the same school as my friends, but i think its for the best. so i really need a good roommate to help me through everything. i dont have a facebook, but should i make one so i can use roomsurf.com? i dont really want a facebook but i want to find a roommate. help?

Don’t make a facebook account just for ■■■■■■■■…You have to pay money to use most of the features there. You could join the facebook page…

I am an incoming freshman too. If you are interested hit me up

Definitely do Facebook. Good way to meet some people before you get there and good to use to find a roommate. My D tried ■■■■■■■■, but liked using the Class of … Facebook page better. Once she found someone similar they talked a lot and really got to know each other. When she went to FTCAP we met the girl and her mother for dinner. By the time they started school in the Fall, they were pretty comfortable with each other.

Also, my D was the only one of her friends that went to Penn State. She got involved with THON and an organization for her major. She has met so many nice people. Her friends that chose to go to the same college together near us haven’t met near as many new people. Also, their college experience has been quite different since they go home every weekend.

My advice is get involved in a group, it really makes a difference. If you are more comfortable in smaller groups you might want to consider a dorm in Pollock (not quite as crazy as East but there are all freshman buildings). You’ll love Penn State. Good luck!

I second the Facebook. Our son knew no one (OOS) heading off to Penn State and didn’t socialize a whole lot in high school. Has made tons of friends and met many kids through his Facebook his senior year of high school.
