Does anyone know anything about the nursing program?

Did you search this forum? I think there has been some discussion of this topic.

My daughter is in her third year at PSU as a nursing student. She received her admission notice in mid January of 2011. It is a competitive program. Her year had 1300 applicants for 85 spots. You are admitted directly to the program so no stress of reapplying as some programs do. You begin your clinical nursing courses in second year. She loves the program. Works very hard! Says all her instructors are very dynamic. If you don’t get into University Park you can start at Altoona and transfer over your second year. Hope this info helps!

Hi, I also applied to PSU Nursing this year. Do you know if it is much harder to get into PSU Nursing than just PSU itself? Good luck to you! I hope we hear back soon!

I applied to nursing as well. Do you know if the decision will be delayed because I am a nursing major? I know some schools delay the response for nursing schools because its a smaller program.

In 2011 my daughter heard back about acceptance to the nursing program in mid January. In 2012, her friend heard at about the same time. In 2011, they had 1300 applications for 85 spots. They have expanded the program. If you don’t get into University Park do not despair. Some of the nursing students start at Altoona for the first year and then transfer the second year. Good luck and keep us posted. It is a great program!
