Hi! I was wondering how difficult it is to be accepted into penn state after the priority deadline; I applied on February 1st as a biology major and I have low hopes. Does anyone have insight on this? If it helps I have a 3.4 uw and 3.8 w, 32 act and multiple ECs with officer positions. The reason that I did not apply earlier was that I was having doubts about getting into any university at all and I went into a stress-related depression.
It is more difficult to get in after priority, but not impossible. Your ACT score. Is very good and your WGPA is also good. There is no way to tell, but I think you still have a chance, especially if you are willing to start in the summer.
On a side note, you may need to talk to someone about the performance stress you are feeling. College is very stressful. Your HS grades and test scores are very good and certainly college worthy. Feeling like it was not good enough to the degree that you didn’t apply perhaps may mean that you need to learn how to handle success and failure before college. Good luck to you!!
Biology is a very popular major though. I don’t know if you can change it to something else in Agriculture perhaps, like ’ immunology and infectious disease ', or 'veterinary and biomedical science ’ or ’ biological engineering '…?
Did you check 'summer session '? If not, I’d strongly suggest you call and ask o be considered for it first. Indeed if you stress out easily, summer session will ease you out into college life. Plus it’s a lot of fun (festivals, the pool…) , you make friends, and when Fall comes along with the plagueof locusts err the 40,000 students who weren’t there for Summer ;), you’re all settled, ready to go, you know the University, how to handle college, where the tutoring center is, etc…
Do you want UP?
Odds are, you’ll be offered an alternate campus, although you have a strong enough test score that it’s possible they offer you up.
