Ive been accepted into Smeal - university park.....was wanting to know does collegetown have a rural feel.....or is it pretty much like a city?
Also, are internships tough to get through smeal in undergrad courses ?

Well, I visited the University Park location and fell in love with it! It's mostly older tradional looking buildings typical of the south (even though PA is not the south) and the college town is awesome! I toured around 25 college the past 3 years and I thought Penn was wonderful! It is definately rural -- but you wouldn't know it from how big the town is.
You literally walk across the street from the college center and you are in this quaint town that has everything you could need and then some. It's also geared toward the student so even the boutiques have things like trendy clothes and great music.
I got in and have actually thought about attending! Not sure if it's a good fit for broadcasting (internships) but the alumni is crazy to say the least (in a good way). I think like, every 5 people have some connection to Penn. I'm not sure, but it was some crazy number. Plus, out of all the schools I applied to they have been the most aggressive to try to get me to attend.
And don't forget about Football. The school spirit is fantastic there! I'm going to school for Broadcasting with a minor in political science (or history, or something that will allow me to live overseas and get deep into world politics.)
Good luck to you!

Just a hint - we are Penn State.
University of Pennsylvania is Penn.
Since you are from Arizona you would not know...but they certainly do in Pennsylvania!

Well, I DO live in Venetia also......... I am finishing up high school in AZ, but I did go to Peter's Township for 6 months. I didn't care for it, so I went back to Arizona. But, we travel between houses all the time, so yeah, I guess I am from PENN too! smile

OK, sorry about that. I grew up outside of Pittsburgh too and actually did not even know there was a Penn until I went to Penn State.

kpalta - Penn State is a major Big 10 school, but has the feel of a smaller school. Yes, it's a nice small town, but much more rural than city. The term "city" should not be used.

You have to visit the campus to get the feel for it. That's true of any school. If you think you might want to go there, you MUST visit.
