I am currently a Freshman at a 4 year University. I am a chemical engineering major with a 3.8 GPA which hopefully will be a 3.9 by the end of Freshman Year. I know Penn State does not usually let sophomores transfer directly to UP, but I have heard of exceptions being made often and was wondering if anyone knew of anyone who has gotten into UP as a sophomore transfer? Or if you knew how to? Thank you!!
Yes I know of someone who transferred spring semester of sophomore year from a 4 year oos college. Individual was accepted a few days before Xmas and started 2 weeks later - It’s possible but not easy. It is based on an individual basis/situatuon.
You can only transfer to UP if you have enough credits to be either (a) a 1st sem freshman (under 17 credits) or (b) a junior (above 59.1) . If anyone transferred in second semester of sophomore year, they likely had credits to actually be a junior standing - which is completely doable with dual enroll credits from high school.
Note that engineering majors generally don’t allow transfer to UP. http://admissions.psu.edu/info/future/transfer/eligibility/4year/transfer-requirements-by-college/college-of-engineering/
Ah, good point @bodangles ! Everyone should check the requirements for their exact major before attempting to transfer as some majors do not allow it (nursing comes to mind).
Thank you guys!
