Hi :) My gpa is a 3.2 (B+) My sat score is a 1700. Honors English, Honors Film Analysis, and Advance Media Placement class. Everything else is CP. Television is my passion and I will show that through my essay and interview. I am in Student Government, secretary of my class. Girl Scouts. Youth Group. Peer Leadership Group. I have 2 part-time jobs, One at my local Ice Cream shop and one at a Law Firm. I know my scores are lower than the average Penn State rate, but I was wondering if anyone with around my scores and EC's has ever gotten in to Penn State EA? If not, i heard that summer session is easier to get into can anyone confirm this?

I’d like to suggest to whoever moved this thread that it really does belong in either college admissions or the Penn State page. This is not a pre-college summer program. This question is about getting admitted to Penn State for the summer term instead of Fall.

I’ll answer with what I know. I’m a PSU alum and yes, it is a bit easier to get into summer term instead of fall. I’ve always thought that what determines whether your GPA is good enough is the major you want. If you wanted Business or Engineering, forget it. 3.2/1700 isn’t going to get you into Univ. Park. But it doesn’t sound like that’s your choice. If you apply as DUS (Division of Undergraduate Studies, which means undeclared major) that will also help your chances.

I’m not saying you have a great chance of getting into PSU with a 3.2/1700. But I think it does happen, and it’s worth a shot. And letting them know you’re open to summer admission and an undeclared major helps. And apply before Nov. 30!

I agree, this should go into “college admissions”, this isn’t precollege but the summer session for freshmen to enter Penn State before the others and take 2 classes together.

To OP:
Take the SAT again and prepare well (you can use Sparksnotes for free online, and number2.com also provides free prep, tailored to your weaknesses.) Get your junior grades as high as possible since your junior grades are the ones that will be used to decide on your admission - aim for a 3.4. Apply as soon as the app is up, as early in the Fall as you can. Apply DUS. And, indeed apply for the summer session since it’s easier to get in this way, plus it’s a lot more fun because you get to make friends and discover the campus before the others, so that when the other freshmen arrive, you already know your way around, feel comfortable with the huge campus and can show them around town. :)
