Penn State University Chances

Hi, I am currently a senior in highschool with a 3.0 gpa and a 1760 on my first SAT, I have extracurricular activities such as Muay Thai, ping pong, breast cancer walk, green teen volunteer, helping my parents business after school and I also am taking 4 AP Classes in total with 3 Years of foreign language. I will also be retaking my SAT this saturday, hoping to get a much higher score. Please chance me. P.S. Do I have to send my transcript and SAT scores first or do I submit my online application form first?

help please

If you want Penn State University Park , unfortunately chances are very close to zero since 2/3 of the decision comes from GPA alone and your GPA falls well below the range. However, the branch collages (Altoona, Eire, …) are within your reach. From these colleges and a good GPA you can transfer to UP with the 2 + 2 plan. Good Luck with your college hunt!

Do you think I have a chance at university park if I get a higher SAT score? Is 3.0 with 4 Ap classes and extracurricular activites and volunteering really have a chance near zero?

From Penn State’s web site:

High School GPA (4.0 scale)
Penn State University Park:3.55-3.97
All other campuses:3.00-3.50

Combined SAT
Penn State University Park:1750-2000
All other campuses:1460-1690

bartma is correct. PSU uses 2/3 GPA and 1/3 standardized tests.

3.0-3.4 and 1500-1750 typically means a branch campus - one of the stronger ones like Erie, Harrisburg, or Altoona.
However…
is 3.0 your weighted or unweighted average? If it’s your UW, what’s your weighted GPA?

3.0 is my weighted gpa.

Then you should ask for Behrend, Altoona, or Harrisburg as your first choice campus, since your APs will help you get in even if your weighted GPA is quite low for those; then choose an alternate, either based on where you live and would commute to, or based on location (close to Philly, to Pittsburgh…)
