PENN STATE: UNIVERSITY PARK CHANCES?

Hey guys. I am currently a senior in high school, and I wanted to inquire on whether or not I have an exceptional chance of being admitted into Penn State: University Park. Here is my current relevant information.

  • Grade Point Average: 3.18 (weighted)
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test: 1760 (on a 2400 scale)
  • I applied September 1st during midday and all of my required paperwork will be submitted by the second week of September
  • I applied for the Pre-Medical major in the Eberly College of Science
  • I applied for the Summer of 2016 semester
  • 5 honors courses, and ~10 extracurricular activities in the span of my four years at high school (1/3 of which were volunteer work)
  • One job for seven months
  • My essay revolves around how I overcame my Asperger's, which was a social and academic obstacle throughout my late middle school and early high school years.

Hopefully many of you are willing to give me some predictions (with reasoning) as soon as possible. If not I guess I will just ‘bump’ since that seems to do something on forums. Thank you for your time.

A 3.18 weighted is pretty low for University Park, and in my opinion your SAT isn’t going to counteract that (even for summer session?). Did you select a branch as your backup?

Yes, Erie. If I am denied acceptance into main campus where does that leave me? I know that I receive a package including information about my alternate branch campus, yet does that guarantee me acceptance into Erie? And if so, will I be able to do the 2+2 year program with the Pre-Medicine major?

If you are denied main campus, they will evaluate you for Erie/Behrend. As far as I know, they have a pretty high acceptance rate there, but no one is “guaranteed” a spot at any campus. If you get into Erie, you will certainly be able to do 2+2 (many students do).

Premed is not usually a major; you can choose any major you like, as long as you satisfy the med school prereqs while doing so.
