Penn State University Park to George Washington University

Hey i’m a freshman at penn state university park for computer science. Do you guys recommend that I transfer to George Washington University for my 2nd year for the same major? I feel a little out of place and my best friend is at GWU. I also like the metropolitan area a lot more than PSU which is in the middle of nowhere. What are the pros and cons of each school for my major? Also GWU gives an average of 24k in merit aid which would surprisingly make it about 5k cheaper than PSU for me.

Look up their statistics on TRANSFER-specific merit aid before you make a rash decision…a lot of schools barely give any.

@bodangles lets assume that money is not a problem then. what do you think of the two schools

I think that I go to Penn State and have no idea what or where GWU is, so I have little of substance to offer on the topic. :stuck_out_tongue:

Have you started at PSU? Could you ask to defer enrollment, take a gap year, and apply to GWU? If you would need that amount of merit-based aid in order to make GWU affordable, then your best chance of getting that kind of money is as a freshman applicant. Few places give merit aid to transfer applicants.

Unless I’m reading past posts incorrectly…this student hasn’t even started his freshman year of college and is already planning to transfer.

What’s the deal?

@bodangles GWU…George Washington University in D.C.

@thumper1 whats your deal man? I’m just keeping my options open. Nothing wrong with that. Classes start monday for me. Chill

I moved in today; my room, despite being in the same building as last year, is a strange shape and threw a wrench in our carpet plans. Now that I’ve got it all set up it feels a bit cozier, though. Hope your move-in day went / is going / will go well! Who knows, maybe you’ll like it here more than you expect. :slight_smile:
