Penn State vs SUNY Buffalo/Albany

I was accepted to Penn State (University Park), Suny Albany, and I am still waiting on SUNY Buffalo. I intend on majoring in Computer Engineering. I know that out of all three schools Penn State is the better choice, but in my case the most expensive. I am an OOS for Penn State and received about 10k of aid, which leaves 27k/year to loans since my parents do not make enough money. On the other hand, I have Suny albany, and being instate it would come out to about 7k/year to loans. The problem with Albany is that it doesn't have Computer Engineering, it has Computer science which is not the end of the world but its still not what I wanted to major in. I am still waiting to hear back from SUNY Buffalo, which would cost about the same as albany. I have applied to a couple of scholarships but I won't hear back until after May 1st.

What should I do? Should I go 100k in debt for a Computer Engineering Degree at Penn State? Assuming I will keep my GPA above a 3.0, will I be able to get a decent job after graduation? I visited Penn State twice and fell in love with it. I visited SUNY albany last year and It was OK, I don't mind spending four years there. In the case that I don't get into Buffalo, what should I do? How likely is it for me to land a job right after I graduate from these schools? I really don't want to have to go to a CC since Ill be giving up the real college experience/dorming/etc. I need any advise I can get! Thank you

Bump, anyone?

I can’t comment on the schools, but I would think long and hard about going $100,000 in debt for undergrad. Not worth it IMO.

Don’t underestimate U Buffalo, new CS building, nice campus, new sophomore dorm. My dtr is freshman Chem E major in honors program and has had a good experience from dorms, friends, classes even the weather hasn’t been that bad. I liked the Buffalo campus better than Albany. You can’t beat the price vs Penn State where my dtr was also accepted to engineering & honors with very little aid pricing it off her list. Good luck with what ever you decide.

Buffalo definitely. you would be very foolish to not pick it. Penn state isnt that great and they have underground tunnels so the cold doesnt really matter so it will be better thn penn state.

Go to buffalo!!
