Facts to consider:

1) I want to go to Computer Science Major.
2)I am talking about any campus from all the available campuses preferably University Park or Harrisburg.
3)SAT: CR 490 M 620 W 590 (1700/2400)
4)TOEFL: 107/120
5)GPA: 3.12/4
6)Ethnicity: Indian

So when opting for CS, i get an option to End at 3 campuses, Harrisburg, University Park, Erie.
Whereas for starting campus i can opt from any.

So the question is
Which of these should i do:

1) Starting Campus: Harrisburg
Alternate Starting Campus: Abington

2) Starting Campus: University Park
Alternate Starting Campus: Harrisburg

Which of these will have more chances of me getting in?

and finally according to the statistics i saw, the majority ethnicity is white and Asians low, so is this because less asians apply to this college or PennState being state university favors its candidates to asian candidates in the 81% acceptance rate?( I dont mean to sound racist :) sorry )

Are you in state or out of state?
Right now, your odds are virtually nonexistent for University Park (you’d need a 3.9 GPA with a 1700 SAT). HOWEVER since you’re international, you may have miscalculated your GPA (it looks quite low) and if you are full pay University Parkmight be within reach. Penn State places a heavy emphasis on GPA. A GPA in the 2.8-3.3 range would suggest a branch campus rather than University Park.

Be aware that University Park and the branch campuses are NOT the same at all. Most branch campuses are commuter schools - students go there from their homes and return to their home at night. Many students are there because they hope to go to the University Park campus (also called “main campus”.) Most branch campuses are very small (between a few hundred students and a thousand students) whereas the University Park campus is huge (over 45,000 students). Most branch campuses have a very small campus whereas University Park is a large “typical American campus” located in a college town.

If you are full-pay and can bring your SAT score up, you may have a shot at University Park.
If this is your current profile and it doesn’t change, I’d go with starting at Harrisburg or Abington, trying to end at UP. I don’t like Harrisburg very much, it’s very depressed. Abington is in a nicer area of Pennsylvania.
BTW any reason why you like these two over the other branch campuses?

Yeah u are right about my GPA being miscalculated, its not an official GPA,I just put the 3.12 as the worst case scenario, my curriculum is extremely( i mean it) rigorous, having many college level Physics, Chemistry and especially Mathematics units.
I dont know how to find GPA but i have Straight 'A’s in Grade 9 and Grade 10 and have A-B,C grades in 11 and 12.

As u asked, my liking for the other 2 campuses is because of their location closer to my relatives because i have been to US only 1 before and that only for a Vaccation so when i go there i’ll need someone i know close by…

What are my chances at Harrisburg and Abington?and again my ethnicity matters? :)

BTW Thanks for the Reply :)

Reply Please !!! :)
