I am interested in computer/electrical engineering. I have been to University Park however, on the application it wants you to choose an alternate campus. Since I wasn't able to tour any of them, does anyone know which other campus is a good choice. I like the campus feel so I don't want a small campus and Penn state housing. I want the classes to be as close to University Park as possible since I heard when you transfer in students have a hard time adjusting.

Sounds like Altoona may be the best choice for you. It’s the closest branch campus to UP. It’s the 3rd largest campus(behind Erie and UP).

I forgot to say that I live in NJ and really do not want to go to the Erie campus

Penn State Behrend Erie would have been the closest in difficulty and overal level. (You’re right, there can be quite a difference in level, expectations, and workload depending on where you attend). Harrisburg or Altoona would be your best choices if you won’t consider Behrend.

Altoona is planning on adding enrollment to become the largest branch campus I believe. But even so, there are only about 4500 students at Altoona. It’s quite a large difference from Main Campus (40,000+). But any of the branch campuses will be that way. Some are much, much smaller. Altoona is a beautiful campus and it’s only about 40 minutes from Main Campus. I’ve known people who went to Altoona but lived in State College and commuted. It’s not ideal, but there are some that do that for one reason or another. I have never seen any of the other branch campuses except Altoona so I can’t speak to the others. You can do the first 2 years of any major at the branch campuses so you would be able to do the 2+2 plan - UNLESS the major you are looking at requires all 4 years at PSU main campus. Some do. I’d check that as well. Good luck!

We visited PSU Altoona. It was a nice looking campus. Way smaller of course, but nice.
