At 5 p.m. Thursday, Penn will accept 9.8 percent of regular decision applicants, the Office of Admissions announced Wednesday afternoon.

Penn’s overall acceptance rate of 12.3 percent for the Class of 2016 is the exact same as the initial acceptance rate last year.

Just saw it!!! I am sooo NERVOUS!!!

apparently its an increase from last year! for RD anyways

^ Barely–9.8% this year compared to the 9.73% final RD admit rate (after waitlist activity) last year. And of course, the 9.8% figure actually might have been rounded up from 9.7-something. In any event, it’s essentially the same as last year. :)

45 percenter,

for those lucky ones who are accepted tomorrow, will they be able to access their Financial Aid online? or will they have to wait for snail mail letters to arrive sometime next week?

Thanks!

Any idea what the admit rate for applicants who were originlly deferred ED is? Just curious.

tugtraveller, someone else will have to answer that question for you, since I have no idea. Sorry!

letsgoo, that statistic won’t be available until the Admissions Office posts on its web site the Incoming Class Profile for the Class of 2016, which will be sometime in August or September.

Maybe I’ll have better luck this time around.

Knock on wood.

I’ll cry regardless.

tugtraveller: When I was accepted ED in December of 2011, the financial aid offer was also up (provided that you have already submitted ALL documents, including the FAFSA, CSS Profile, 2011 Tax Documents, PFAS, etc.).

GOOD LUCK TO ALL TOMORROW!

@letsgoo,

They updated the article:

So about 11%.

Well that’s…disheartening. Congratulations to those 97.

Yep. In the past, they haven’t released that number this early, but, there you go. :)

wow…if only I had been born 10 years earlier…

Good luck to you all!

I was one of those deferred ED-ers and I don’t think I’ll be among the 97 accepted. Good luck to all those deferred ED!

As a Penn freshman who went through the freaking out last year: Penn is a great place to be, but there are other places where you will be just as happy! Good luck to everyone and remember this is only the beginning!

loldanielol I was deferred too. I’m still hopeful!
