Penn Transfer Applicants

do you think it would be possible to transfer to Penn from a school such as the University of Florida. Which school do you think would give the best chance with a high GPA-University of Florida, Wisconsin-Madison, or Michigan.

anything is possible. you can transfer into any school FROM any school. it's just that transferring from a school like michigan would only help you because it is more competitive and prestigious, compared to florida and wisconsin

I've seen at least 1, maybe even 2 posters on this board transfer from University of Florida to Harvard. It can be done. Tough as hell probably, but it can be done.

academics and peer assessment ranking

Michigan #12
University of Wisconsin - Madison #20
Florida # 97

Students from the first two would presumably have much easier time proving themselves.
Don't let funding and other state school issues confuse you about them. Their academics are stronger than emory, notre dame, tufts, vanderbilt, etc, especially in u-grad programs that they rank in the top 10 in the grad school ranking.
The peer institutions though so too so you can't yell at me.

I know people from wisc and florida that made it. Idk anybody from michigan at all though, but I am sure it would be easier for them.

jL - there are NO Wharton minors. What you listed are interschool minors, which means they are minors that include classes taken in Wharton. However, I can guarantee that if you call up Wharton and ask them if they have minors they will tell you NO because there is no such thing. That's why none of the ones you listed are pure business (like Finance or Accounting).

http://www.college.upenn.edu/curriculum/minors/index.html#joint

Interschool Minors

The College of Arts and Sciences cooperates with other schools within the University such as Wharton or Nursing to offer interschool minors. Students wishing to pursue an interschool minor may need to complete more than the minimum number of courses for graduation, since all non-major courses taken outside of SAS are considered "non-College electives."

The interschool minors are:

Actuarial Mathematics
American Public Policy
Biological Basis of Behavior & Health Services Management
Consumer Psychologgy
Jewish Studies and Education
Landscape Studies
Legal Studies and History
Nutrition
Organizations & Environmental Management
Urban Education
Urban Real Estate & Development

okay, no big deal. i guess i got confused with what exactly a wharton minor was compared to an interschool minor. i didn't mean to offend you though.

anyways, good luck to everybody sending in their mid-semester grade reports!

i am gonna be gettin those in the next week or so, i am really nervous, b/c i have to tell every person i am transfering, which is really ****** up in my opinion, its none of their business
and then...i have to convince them that i am transfering for the right reasons, so they don't **** w. my grade

just penn, every other school doesn't ask for this

I get what you mean. I'm at a community college right now and I just asked one of my professors to fill out a mid-term report. I get the impression she was thinking "somebody wake this guy up!"

It won't be fun saying that i got rejected later, but hey i guess that's life, hit or miss at times~ ... and hopefully i'll get in =D

hey I am considering transferring to penn after my freshman year of college at Quinnipiac. I applied to QU because they have many connections for a certain major, but now I don't have an interest for this major anymore and want to pursue business as a major. I was wondering what my chances were if I had a perfect gpa next year...I am also planning on being very involved there..possibly student council. The only thing that concerns me is my highschool transcript which I think may kill me...my gpa was a 3.4 and my SAT's were just pretty embarrasing. I will probably take them over again..but how important is the highschool record? I had a tough time in highschool due to many personal events and that is why my grades were on the lower side. Is there anything I can do to compensate for it? Thanks

I've heard that 17 external transfer students matriculated into wharton last year out of approximately a pool of 300. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but a friend in Wharton told me. He also said they look for "business flair". Good luck everyone.
