UPENN: Are you sending the Mid Year Report?!

Yes?

Gosh..it's a real pain in the arse.

Prof. are real uneasy to give out grades at such point in the year(with the finals only a couple weeks away). argh

but I think i will be sending it to PENN sometime next week, (after deadline..but I think it will be alright..)

I know it's not a requirement..but u guys sending it??

Yeah, I am sending mine out tomorrow (monday the 31st). I wanted to do it Friday afternoon but I forgot to get it signed by my biology teacher. I don't know how much weight they put on it, but I have all A's now so it can't hurt.

I know what you mean about the professors' reluctance; I had to have a couple of mine double check with my TA's and show them my work that they had already graded. Even after that, they still seemed sad to do it.

It's not required?!

Barcelona, I ran into a similar situation as well. I would take a guess and say there is probably a lot less emphasis put on the midterm report for sophomores applying for junior status, rather than fresh. applying for sophomore status.

I'm sending it in. I think I should get all A's. I was wondering if I could leave out a school if I had a b in that class...

All I have right now are "Ss" for Satisfactory.

Can you please tell me what this report is and where I can find it? I applied through the CommonApp website, and it didn't mention it at all. I am applying as a transfer for the class of 2010, by the way.

You can get it from the downloadable forms part of the penn website...

I am applying for junior status as well, so it probably isn't as important, but one of my semesters was a study abroad so hopefully this will compensate.

lol some1 doesnt know how to link :p

Yeah...

I had posted a link earlier, but here is the thing about it:

It is a downloadble PDF that operates through a java script, so I had to extract the link location and then copy and paste it, but when I tried to put it in the address bar it didn't work, so I just deleted it...

Although, if Kmzizzle has some linking knowledge that I lack I am sure they would be delighted to share it with you.

As for what it is, basically it's just a form you have to take around to all of your professors and have them write down your current grade and sign their name. Then you send it into Penn. It says to have it postmarked by March 31st, but I am sure there is some leeway with that date.

okay...if it werent for this thread i never would have known about the midterm report. there is nothing about it on the common app, nothing on the supplement, nothing under school forms (on the common app). i just went through their entire admissions website and there's nothing anywhere that says anything about it. if you weren't looking for it you wouldnt even think to look for it in the individual printable forms.

this gives me exactly one day to get all my signatures...wonderful.

EDIT: wait, is it required or not?!

Yes, it is required, and no you can't just leave out a class because you are getting a B in it. :/

ssl307, where did you get that it's not required?

They did make it quite tricky to find, but it is on the application check list for transfers, along with the two letters of recommendations and the Dean's form (all of which have been a pain in the ass for me, and I am sure that goes for a lot you all as well.)

blinktwice, I called the UPENN admissions office. They understand that professors and TAs are real uneasy about giving a "mid-year" grade as final exams have MUCH MUCH more weight than midterm stuff so..although the form says it is required, in reality, they don't penalize you if you can't send it.
