Penn v. Michigan?

I've been accepted to both schools.

I'd rather go to Penn, though it would involve some significant debt for me, which I am willing to accept, particularly leaving school with a mechanical engineering degree.

Since I'm a resident of Michigan, UM is much more affordable.

Any opinions on attending Penn w/ debt vs. attending Michigan without it?

Thanks!

i go to michigan, and I’d pick UPenn if the price different isnt night and day.

The rationale is, if you are going to work in the engineering world, the prestige of the program doesnt make that much of a difference anyway. You probably cant convince me that UPenn engineers dont get good engineering jobs.

However, should you ever want to work in finance and consulting, which I strongly encourage my fellow engineering students to at least think about , you’ll be better off with the prestige of an ivy league.

(this is from someone who made a stupid mistake of forgoing the opportunity to go to wharton and went to michigan engineering “for fit”)
