Hi guys,

I was fortunate enough to be accepted to Tufts and the University of Pennsylvania. Tufts has always been my number one, but getting into Penn was a pleasant surprise. I plan on majoring in biochemistry and doing pre-med. Any insight into which school would be better?

Thanks

It’s really a question of personal preference and fit. Vist both, if you can, and determine where you think you’d be happiest and thrive the most, both academically and socially. There’s no secret formula for this decision. :)

Congratulations, and good luck!

Well Penn has a much better rep with (slightly) smarter students. Penn is actually in Philadelphia and Tufts is in a sleepy suburb of Boston. For me (and most people), the choice would be clear, but I guess if you really like Tufts, go there.

From my understanding, Tufts has a better med program than premed. You could go to Penn for premed and Tufts for med school- in fact, that’s exactly what my interviewer did. Also, all of the hills at Tufts really irk me. Penn is nice and flat.

Have you factored in cost? Personally, I would go to wherever is cheaper for you since, as a pre-med, you’re going to have to shell out roughly another 200k for medical school.

Where do you want to go to med school. Maybe that can help you make your choice. Look at where Penn pre med go vs Tufts.
