ok. you win.

I hereby stand by the claim that Cornell is better than Penn.

1) Penn is only reputable because of Wharton (yeah the other kids might as well go to their local community colleges)
2) Penn is notorious for producing non-engineering engineers (whatever that means)
3) Cornell is light-years ahead of Brown in prestige (hold on sec, based on what?? you denounce USnews but then refer to your personalized prestige rankings)
4) Penn has no name recognition in Asia (sure, if you say so)

Cornell2011, thank you so much for these deeply insightful comments and other great information about the amazing Cornell!

I like how your motivation for this college reputation crusade into the Penn forum began because some anonymous internet poster dissed Cornell as the lowest Ivy. And ironically, your own response to some random misinformed prestige-driven remark about Cornell is blatant attacks on Penn (^ those four brilliant points listed above in my post illustrate my point).

You go to Cornell, it's a great school. We're all happy that you're proud to be there, and best of luck!

You know what, Penn is a great school also. And many posters on this PENN forum are current/aspiring students, who harbor a good amount of respect for the school, so please just leave us all alone.

I tried to delete my original post, but I could not. Can't we all just chill?

^You can't compare two peer institutions on this forum without upsetting people on this forum. It's one thing to defend your school. It's another to attack another school like cornell2011 did.

I love Penn. I didn't apply to Cornell. This isn't because I don't think Cornell is a great school, it's because I don't think it's a great school for me. Name recognition and prestige may land you a job, but it's competency in what you do that will advance you further in life, and the only way to fully grow in college to be able to advance yourself later is to be at an institution where you feel comfortable. Prestige may matter until you land your first job, but after that it's the reputation that you make for yourself that will carry your career.

So pretty much, go where you feel you will succeed, because life will carry on after our first jobs.

relax i have this thread covered

1) PENN
2-4083) WHO CARES
4084) PRINCETON

No one cares what you think slim2none. The question here is not what we do with our lives, or our ****ing "competency." It's which is the worse (perhaps superlatives may fit better) school, cornell or penn.

As an older person (mid 40's) who grew up on the East Coast, did not attend an IVY, and thus among probably the largest group of people who will be thinking about hiring all of you in several years, I will offer you this:

Invariably, when asked to name the IVY league schools, the one school which a large majority of my peers have trouble naming is ......................

Cornell.

No one in this group thinks Penn is Penn State. That is a recent occurence by people too young to make a difference in your careers.

They are both great schools, I would prefer the city school like Penn, for the diversity and increased activities, but that is a personal decision.

last year i was on a flight to england for work, wearing my cornell t-shirt - a woman passed by in the aisle and asked me if i went there, how it's so great and everything

when i said, no, i go to the university of pennsylvania, she was amusingly confused

I second NickBarr (and I think I know who you are =P)

For the record, muerteapablo copied his ENTIRE post in totality from another college site that beings with A which I posted to recently. I wrote that entry last week in response to an inane Cornell, Columbia, Penn thread. It devolved into yet another ****ing contest, just as this thread has.

muerteapablo - please be adult (and ethical) enough to admit when you're copying other people's commentary. Nothing on here is copy written but that doesn't mean you can just copy willy nilly. Don't be a weenie dude.

Sorry, I really wasn't trying to take credit for it, I just didn't think it would be so important to cite; everyone here is anonymous, so what kind of credit can I be taking right now? It would be an anonymous poster citing an anonymous source.

Also, for an "inane" thread, you penned quite a response there.

mmm, internet plagiarism...classy...

Actually colt, the worst and the least known is Dartmouth.

hm, now i have to figure out who you are, rister_chutophs...

the game is on!

It is the least known, and one of the worse ones. Definitely not worse than Cornell though. I don't see what your point is.
