the one placement test i took was just an old SAT II test, so probably however long those take. that was too long ago for me to remember.

So an hour? Man, why am I even bothering my AP tests this year then. Sheesh : /

Klogon: I see you're from Portland. Ahahahaha. You're in for a pleasant surprise. Go Oregon power.

You came from Portland, too? which high school? I actually go to the newest school built 3 years ago: Liberty High School in Hillsboro ;o

Just a tip for people trying to avoid weeder courses: if you have a BIOL091 credit then take 122 and not 121...it's not curved. Well, not punitively anyway. Theoretically everyone can get As, but of course that never happens.

ahhh that means i have to study a lot for my Bio AP test...to get a 5 and get credit for bio 091

haha probably because bio 121 is full of BE (bioengineering) kids... screwing up the curve

but if a 5 on the bio ap test does not get out lab credit for bio 091, would you need to take two lab courses you decide to use the bio credit?

Yes, if you're a bio major. You can register for BIOL123 which is just the lab section of 121.

is it possible to not take bio until sophomore year and still use the ap credit? if you're not into bio major, do you still need to make up for the lab, which is not credited by the ap?

psych 001, and any of the big wharton lecture courses (i.e. mgmt100, econ001, econ002) are considered "weeders". in mgmt there's actually a predetermined percentage of the class getting A's,B's, and C's. in other words, you can score perfectly, but still end up with a B.
that simply blows.

I didn't take bio until my sophomore year (and I'm a bio major) - I used my AP credit to skip out of Biol 122, since everyone I talked to said they didn't like the class. I really liked my professor for 121 (Sniegowski) and enjoyed the course, but a lot of people thought it was hard.

A bio major only requires two lab courses I think, and since I'm doing a molecular concentration, I was able to use independent research to count for one of the lab courses.

Vanessc, that's not true for Econ 001 or Econ 002: there are cutoffs but 100% of the class could theoretically get an A if everyone does well.

can bioengineering majors skip biol 121 (departmental placement) and just take the lab bio123?

yes, passing the departmental placement exam and taking the lab only is perfectly acceptable for be students; if choosing this route, the student can go right to biol 202, the next required biology course in be.
