<p>unlimitedx, Basket Weaving is the classic "joke" major. It doesn't exist anywhere to my knowledge.</p>

<p>Don't forget Math 1A and 1B. Those are notorious GPA-killers.</p>

<p>second math 1a and math 1b (1b especially). math 53 fall or 54 fall is pretty killer too (lots of freshman take the classes, freshman who are trying to go into engineering. I've known several (and i mean SEVERAL) people who have failed 53 or 54 in the fall. Its usually a little better during the spring)</p>

<p>Depends on your major; I don't have to take any math classes 'cept for an empirical analysis for poli sci.</p>

<p>Actually, I WOULD recommend AP-ing out of Math 1A and 1B if you can. I don't think it's such a bad idea to go straight into 53 or 54, because those classes don't "weed" as much as 1A/B. Besides, most people do not have to take 53 and 54 whereas 1A and 1B are pretty much required for any science/engineering-related (and business) major. Which means that there's more competition in the latter classes. This isn't to say that 53 and 54 are easy, of course, but the harsh grading in 1A/B just makes it so much more difficult to get good grades. </p>

<p>Also, I don't really think there's any correlation between fall/spring semesters and the level of difficulty of Math 53/54. It just depends on the professors teaching them. I took 54 last semester (I'm a freshman) and the prof was boooorrrriinnng but gave easy tests, and I managed to get an A simply by studying from the textbook. In any case, definitely check out professors on <a href="http://www.ratemyprofessors.com%5B/url%5D"&gt;www.ratemyprofessors.com&lt;/a> BEFORE enrolling in your classes. If you can't get one with good ratings, at least get one who gives easy tests. ;) You can check it out under "Easiness" ratings.</p>

<p>Sometimes; but for some classes, there is only one lecture and so you're pretty much stuck with that professor.</p>

<p>Math 16 is not weeder. I'm pretty sure you can do it as a prereq, but make sure your major doesn't require Math 1.</p>

<p>Are most of the people who take math 1A people who are 'retakeing it' for their major, rather then using their AP credits.</p>
