I want to get into upenn's Wharton school for undergraduate program. That's my first priority, even if i get YPMS, its 'okay' :p. Kidding. I'm in 12th standard currently. (Maharashtra state board ) I got 92 in 10th. Was the head boy. Won many debates elocutions and personlaity contests throughout school life. I'm also a cricket commentator. I've even had a stint in the Indian premier league. You might be able to hear me again In this edition on tv or on all india radio. I actively do community service and part of quite a few NGOs. I'm writing a fictional novel , it's about half complete. Should be complete by June next year. I also have a business model which im going to implement after my 12th (in march 13). It's social entrepreneurship where we make money and help people. I expect to get in 80-90 range in 12th standard. Any chances of me getting in ? I'll be send my application in November 13, which will give me enough time to study for my SATs and polish up my resume. Have we got any Wharton Indians in this forum ? So people, what do you think ? Waiting for your replies.

I’m sorry I’m confused. “I’ll be send my application in November 13, which will give me enough time to study for my SATs and polish up my resume.” Do you mean December 13th? Or have you already sent it in? How about the SATs? and SAT subject tests?

Your cricket commentary and stints in the IPL and all india radio sounds like an interesting EC and a little different from the regular academic/sports related ECs you usually expect to find among Indian applicants. So you should definitely use that to your advantage. Good luck!

Sorry I meant November 2013 ! I’ll be giving SATs after my 12th boards. The general consensus of people I’ve talked to is "SAT is easy for Indian students. ". I checked a few sample papers and they are very much manageable. Also are 11th marks counted ? I have very less there. Very very less I mean. but 12th I’m getting in the category of 85-90. Thanks, I need a lot of that.

wait, so you are taking a gap year then?
SAT isn’t particularly hard, it’s mainly vocab, time management and practice practice practice.
Yes colleges do look at your 11th standard marks. However, they will look at them in the context of your own school. How are your marks comparatively? For the schools you have mentioned, it’s always better to be in the top 5-10% of your high school class.

Im writing a novel, so I’m leaving some time for that. I need that on my resume. And also I have a entrpremeurship project planned. I plan to do all that here. I was in the top 5% in my 10th. But 11th i have really poor marks. Almost unmentionable is 12th half year also counted ? Can 11th marks break the deal if the remaining application is good enough ?

just apply…we dont even have the slightest hint of what your scores are == your ec’s are great tbh but what is the point of even asking for a chance when you dont have the scores yet. ec’s dont mean a thing if you dont have the minimum scores especially when you’re asian. get the scores first and then start worrying. 2250+ should be competitive for wharton esp. for pple with ec’s like yours.

and yes 12th half year is counted. they will ask for all grades throughout all semesters, including mid-term + finals.
