Properties of Materials and a programming class. I don't know what the deal is with them. The math/chem/physics/english alone amounted to 85 quarter units. So, I don't see how it can be done without going insane in two years.

Im an inter-campus transfering...
i just found out today that i still have to take a linear algebra class which is NOT required in UCR's chemical engineering's requirement....i have to withdraw from my lovely world music class...( which is realllly fun) ....and i fall 3 weeks behind from that math class..how am i gonna catch up..........this is bad = =

why UC has different major requirement....omg...

Be careful where you take linear algebra at. I'm currently taking theoretical linear algebra, and this class is fricken brutal, 10 times harder than any other math classes I've taken. For sure it is tougher than Engineering Physics - Light & Heat and conceptually comparable to E-M Physics. Here's all the math classes I've completed so far.

Calc1 - differentiation
Calc2 - integration
Calc3 - multivariable
Differential Equations
Discrete Math
..... and now Theoretical Linear Algebra, book is by Davis C. Lay

In the past, many colleges have switched their linear algebra class that was based on traditional classic linear algebra where the focus was on number computations and manipulations. In recent years, though, many schools have switched to the theoretical and application side of linear algebra, and it is insanely difficult. The concepts are scary. If you can find cc's that are still on the classic linear algebra, take those immediately because they are much much lighter and easier, with heavy emphasis on crunching numbers and manipulating matrices only.

niggit42, for sure you got denied due to the missing classes since a 3.3 gpa would get you into engineering at davis.

my friend last year got a 3.6 and got into UCLA as an EE major. another friend with a 3.8 got into UCB as a BiomedEngr major. UCSD will let you in as an engineering major if your gpa is 3.4. so in general, i'd say anything slightly below those gpa's will be borderline for those schools as engineering transfers.

thanks nate cali

Im going to take applied linear algebra....i heard it's very hard...well....im ready to catch up in one week...which mean next week is gonna be hell to me....

the most important...i hope UC will take this change... they said have to finish pre-req by spring...gladly i have time to finish this...

in UCR i have taken all other maths as u did ....

good luck to u, btw which school u also applied LA. cal? and what enginerring is your major?

good luck to u :)

how can you take linear algebra now, isn't it too late to start? at my school, it's only 1 more month til summer.

here's the book i'm using at my cc. i currently have a B+ in this class and feel very fortunate because even though I'm putting insane effort into this material, it's still a tough struggle for me.

for comparison, my friend who transferred from a cc with a 3.6 gpa and attend UCLA now used the same book there at UCLA in his linear algebra class and got a D in the class. I can't even imagine having to take this class at a UC.

if you go thru the comments and reviews written by students who used this book, you'll see alot of them had trouble with the material.

btw, i applied to davis, ucla, ucsd, and uci. accepted to davis with a TAA, still pending for the other 3 schools.

hey nate cali

I could take it cuz im at UCR our school is quarter system..this is the 3rd week of school but im sure i will have a heart-breaking time to catch the linear algebra class..

sup xxpatzz, if your school ends up using David C. Lay's Linear Algebra book, let me know. I have a 3mb file of the entire solution manual in .pdf format. It has solutions to all homework problems in the book, both even and odd. If you ever need it, just PM me, and I can email it to you for free.

out of state, poli sci. 3.95 GPA, missing a req that is a class that only exists at ucsd. great ecs. essay was focused on berkeley. i'm also getting worried that those that haven't heard are out. the missing req. is probably what killed me. i'm just waiting on berkeley because i have all the reqs complete for there.

Word to everyone:

You DON'T HAVE TO COMPLETE ALL THE PRE-REQS. I got accepted as Econ major, and I didn't have two of 6 pre-reqs completed (Calc II and Differential Equation).

dhl3

the reason why im worrying because im an engineering major and math is very important...

but i got the class in last minute..i called UCB, they said it wont matter cuz they made their decision already...i called UCLA, they said just email them what have changed and they are doing final review now...then i called UCSD...they said..ya just email us what u have changed....

that makes me...feel...berkeley= byebye

3.9 gpa
completed all pre-reqs
Electrical Engineer.
ECs: Math tutor, tennis instructor, chess teacher, usta tennis referee

still waiting...

u never know...it could be a good sign that some of us havent heard. i recall that last year, a bunch of people were rejected from ucsd but then got into ucla and/or berkeley. sometimes mediocre ucs reject well-qualified applicants because they know there's no chance they'll go there rather than ucla or berk.

i thought about it, but i highly doubt that they would do that. Because they are not supposed to admit you if you qualify.

I think that those of us still waiting, including me, having our application still under review means exactly that...they are still reviewing it OR we will be rejected :)

Sent an email to ucsd admissions about 1.5 weeks ago asking if they would provide early rejection notices, so those of us rejected could move on and explore other choices.

They fired back the a standard answer - wait until the end of april to find out.

nonlocality

If i was rejected by UCSD, I wish they did not post the rejection untill I hear from Cal and UCLA.
I have a 3.8 GPA, ECs, and well completed IGETC. (I don't want to talk about my essay because it is good to me and my instructors, but it might be ****ty to someone else.) I cannot see why they don't want me.

^ because you are good enough for UCLA and Cal...I have noticed most of the people that have already been accepted to SD would have to reach to get into LA or Berk

to tensplyr
Ur ECs look exactly like my bf's. Except you get a higher GPA. ~_~

thanks you Sweetny007
UCSD has sent me so many campus mails, which I calll them junks, since 3 months ago.
If I am rejected, should I sue them for money. It will be way higher than any scholarship I can get. lol
