so sweetny007 your theory is that they do not accept overqualified applicants earlier on?

sunflower, whats your major?

applied math
I know someone whose major is applied math, and she has been admitted 2 weeks ago.

I really have no idea what UCSD is doing...
I mean... the way they hold on to some applicants (really well-qualified) whereas they already came up with decision for some applicants the first day it was released...

really confusing.

3.75 Math major
still waiting. Darn it

"so sweetny007 your theory is that they do not accept overqualified applicants earlier on?"

Yeah that is my unsubstantiated theory. I can't think of why else I would not have received a desicion yet. Plus the gpa's of those accepted seem to be 3.4-3.8 or so.

what if that person really likes UCSD even she has a 4.0 GPA, and she only applied to UCSD?

"Yeah that is my unsubstantiated theory. I can't think of why else I would not have received a desicion yet."

I'd like to think I was overqualified, but I guess I wasn't... :(

i'd be willing to bet that the ucs communicate at least in terms of which applicants are applying where; therefore ucsd would know if it was the only school to which you applied, and would accept you if you were qualified.

i guess i should add that im just going by what i read on a couple of last year's threads. there were some kids who got into both la and berk, but then were rejected from sd. also, there were others who only got into sd, but then weren't accepted anywhere else. this makes me think that they must communicate. if sd knows la and/or berk is going to accept an applicant, why should they bother using up an admissions slot for someone who's not going to attend?

well....i hope UCSD will release their next batch tomorrow or on Monday.....according what they did this year, always on sat or mon

how many times have they realeased their decisions?

I was so glad after I checked the website.
yeah, I just got into the 6th college majoring econ.
Albeit, waiting for other UCs(Cal & LA) and hope to hear back from them soon.

has anyone been formally rejected from ucsd yet?

economics waiting

Don't put too much faith in UCSD's proclaimed 4/30 latest release date. The past few years, when the end of April approached, they announced that the date got pushed to early May, and then when early May rolled around re-announced to mid-May. Basically, they weren't able to be finished with all the apps on time. This year may prove to be no different. Last year my friend didn't get her engineering acceptance from UCSD til mid-May.

As it's getting closer and closer to 4/30, I have a gut feeling that UCSD may not be able to meet their promised date yet again this year like in years past. If so, then this really sucks ass.

Yeah it does but at least they don't get lazy and just reject everyone that they couldn't finish.

still waiting for ucsd...bioengineering major....3.67 gpa...

It seems like UCD is the kindest, they were one of the earliest ones to release admission results.

I heard of many bio majors being accepted already to UCSD as well as econ majors

I was able to apply to the waitlist for housing...were anyone able to do that?

okay, at least by 4/30 they should release some rejection notices

hopefullly whey will release some as what they did last year..
