people that have transferred from a community college to a 4-year university?

When you transferred to that 4 year university, did they take most of your college credits?
If they did, were those credits counted toward your major?
Did you apply out of state or in state?

Thank you.

This is an individual college to college thing. You need to check each college since some will take many credits and others will not.

Generally, most colleges will take lower-division coursework that is introductory or basic. So courses like math (as long as it is not algebra or pre-algebra), english comp, chem, bio, anthropology, etc will have an equivalent at the 4year college and will be accepted. However, sometimes colleges are very specific–rejecting a class if it lacks a lab component, or insisting that an intro class for some major be taken ONLY at their 4year college. The more esoteric or non-generic, the less likely to get transfer credit. It may be difficult, for example, to get a transfer credit for “Women in the Arts” if the 4year doesn’t have an exact match.

Other than that general guide, you need to dig into the websites of each college you want to transfer in order to get some info on their policies and articulation agreements.
